Biography
Dooley is the co-founder of Dublin Renters' Union and his priorities are corruption, providing home to the homeless and affordable housing.
Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
As a community activist I have extensive experience and a trusted campaigning record on local and national issues. I want to deliver real change at a national level as a strong voice for the unrepresented, marginalised and those living in poverty who have been left behind, to ensure people's lives are fairer and better.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
The biggest societal issue in Ireland is the catastrophic housing and homelessness disaster. Record rents, house prices, homelessness and evictions make a secure and affordable home out of reach out of the majority of young people and families. We have faced additional pressures by the recent population increase.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
I will speak on endemic corruption and the erosion of democracy in Ireland. The Dail bike shelter, security hut and National Childrens Hospital spending scandals and constraints on freedom of expression demonstrate how out-of-touch the political classes are from people's lives.
