Biography

Ní Aonghusa is a comedian and musician who previously ran for Dublin City Council. She is a socialist who strongly supports Palestine, and is critical of the government's record on housing, healthcare, child protection and women's health.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

Because 100 years of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil have led to a massive crisis in housing and public services. The blame for the unrelenting pressures that people face lies squarely with them, and I want to give the people of Dublin Rathdown a real option for change.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

Housing. The denial of the very basic right to somewhere secure, safe and affordable to live is an affront to everything I stand for. It is a catastrophe of the highest proportions and the only response must be for the State to take control of this, and use every available resource to build public housing on public land and to bring derelict housing back into use.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

I would speak about the ongoing genocide in Palestine, and demand action on the Occupied Territories Bill, an end to the use of Shannon and Irish airspace, and the immediate introduction of sanctions.
