Biography

Robert O'Donoghue is a Labour councillor for Fingal, and is the party candidate for Dublin Fingal West in the General Election. A former Deputy Mayor of Fingal, he previously worked as a Data Research, and IT Support Analyst.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

I got involved in politics to serve the communities that I live in. I have been on the Council for six years and have done my best to represent people given the limited scope that Councillors have. I would like to be given the opportunity to serve my communities from a national perspective.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

Housing is the biggest issue facing us. We need to provide the housing and infrastructure in order to build communities in my constituency. There is also a dearth in services for children with additional needs in the area, insufficient school places, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy to cater for family’s needs.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

Expansion of services for children with additional needs, the need for expanded services in Dublin Fingal West is acute and too many parents have to fight tooth and nail to get the services their children need currently.
