Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
I decided to run in this election because I believe that we need a strong, pragmatic voice in Cork North Central, someone who truly understands the challenges facing small businesses, working families, and young parents. With over 12 years’ experience as a former business owner in the tourism and hospitality sector, I know first-hand how critical SMEs are to our local economy and the resilience it takes to keep them thriving. As a mother to a two-year-old, I also deeply understand the urgent need for affordable, accessible childcare. I want to bring these perspectives to the Dáil, advocating for policies that support our families and local businesses.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
The greatest issue facing Ireland right now is the cost of living crisis, which impacts nearly every part of daily life—from housing and healthcare to the affordability of childcare. Many families, particularly here in Cork North Central, are struggling to make ends meet, and small businesses face rising costs that threaten their survival. We urgently need practical solutions that make life more affordable, so that people can focus on building their futures, rather than just making it through each month.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
If elected, my first speaking time in the Dáil would focus on affordable childcare and its impact on working families, especially mothers. Childcare is one of the biggest financial burdens families face, and its high cost is a barrier for many parents who want to return to work. I want to advocate for targeted measures that reduce childcare costs, expand availability, and support working parents, so that families have the support they need and more women are empowered to participate fully in the workforce.
