Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
To keep fighting for Clare. I have spent four years working across party lines and delivering on housing, on health, and for families. I want to ensure that the people of Clare are not left behind when it comes to Government and allocating resources – we need more houses, more AONs and we absolutely and unequivocally need Ennis Hospital reinstated.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
Housing. It is incredibly difficult to rent and the numbers in emergency accommodation has spiralled out of control with no end in sight. I know from meeting constituents this term that waiting lists for people’s mental health, personal relationships, and life are being impacted – we must hold government to account on their failures.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
The need to expand the definition of homelessness in this country as we have never had the real value of homelessness - 1.2% of the Irish population have an unmet need for housing according to current data, but that doesn’t include those sleeping on couches or in cars. You cannot manage what you cannot measure and I believe this is one of the biggest kept secrets of our generation.
