Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
Longford Westmeath needs a progressive voice in politics; one that is focused on social justice and working for the common good. Too often we get caught up on the issues that divide us instead working together on the crises we face. I am running to make a positive change in our communities and to forge a sustainable future for the midlands.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
Housing, in particular the lack of quality private rental housing at an affordable level. We are failing a generation of young people by not addressing this adequately. This is affecting all areas of our society and should be treated as a crisis. The government needs to provide affordable rental housing in all towns in Ireland urgently.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
The midlands can and should be the thriving heart of Ireland. I would talk about the investment we need in our communities to realise this. With better public amenities, a functioning health service, a convenient public transport system and support for our arts we will can achieve this.
