Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?
I am a strong green voice for change and a woman who gets things done. I've a proven track record as Councillor for the area and as Lord Mayor of Dublin. I work hard to make Dublin North-West, our city, and our country a better place to live in, now and for the generations to come. We’ve made a good start during the last four years, and I want to now take it to the next level.
What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?
While there are many issues that face us, including housing, transport, the cost of living and climate change, they have one strong thread in common - the need to drive change while building social cohesion. To take transport as an example, we need to fix the small things that make people’s lives easier, like children being able to cycle safely to school, and the big things, like investing heavily in public transport like the Finglas Luas and the Metro. The Green Party delivered over the last four years, and we are determined to go further as part of the next Government.
What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?
I would like to focus on the need for a new impetus to address social exclusion, inequality, people with disabilities, women, people coming from other countries and people living alone. Our communities are changing, and I know that the people of Dublin North-West are determined to make their communities work, but they need help. I will work with our communities to drive this.
