Biography

Shane Folan is originally from Artane and ran in the 2019 and 2024 local elections. His priorities are housing, tackling the cost of living and an increase in daily wages.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

As a renter and someone who has just moved out of my childhood bedroom in my parents house, I know this government doesn’t represent me or so many people like me. There are more landlords than renters in the Dáil and that has to change. We need a state construction company so that young working people can get affordable housing.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

Housing, health, childcare, and the cost of living are the four main struggles that people bring up constantly on the doors. For the first time in my adult life money is not a barrier to the government to do positive things and we need proper state intervention to help so many people who are struggling so much in Ireland.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

Passing the occupied territories bill if the debate is on foreign affairs. If the debate is on national affairs, it will be about establishing a state construction company as housing affects so many other issues including healthcare and the cost of living.
