Councillor/Climate change policy researcher
Biography

David Healy has represented Howth-Malahide on Fingal County Council since 2014. He is a climate change policy researcher, and engages in climate change issues like transition to cleaner energy, efficient housing and development of the Council's Climate Action Plan.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

It is vital that the work the Green Party has started in government to achieve a just transition to a sustainable society is kept going.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

The impacts of climate change are now being felt here and globally. In 20 years’ time, people will ask how it could be that we did not all recognise that climate change and the loss of biodiversity are the greatest issues we face.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

Aside from the obvious such as climate change and the housing crisis, I would raise the need to tackle exposure to radon, an easily avoidable cause of lung cancer, and, in particular, the need for laws to require testing and remediation of private rented accommodation.
