Biography

Cronin is a Sinn Féin TD for Kildare North, and is the party spokesperson on defence. She was previously a member of Kildare County Council between 2014 and 2019. She supported the marriage equality and abortion referendums.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

Because I hope to represent the people of North Kildare again, form part of the new government, make sure my constituents have affordable homes, get the first 45K of their salary free of the USC, and can access childcare for 10 euro a day per child. If they are carers, have the mean Means Test abolished; unify Castletown lands for the people.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

Housing. It’s the property version of The Hunger Games. In North Kildare, ambitious young workers are outbid by wealth funds, elderly people are sofa surfing, sleeping in cars, pregnant women are due their babies and eviction around the same time. Abject cruelty.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

Housing. I hope SF will be in government and I’ll be speaking about the 370,000 affordable homes we’ll build by 2030. Give people dignity, hope.
