Biography

Alan was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 2011. He is the outgoing chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport & Communications and was the Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children & Youth Affairs from 2017-2020.

Question time
Why did you decide to run in this election?

My primary motivation for entering politics in 2004 was to help people. It remains my primary motivation.

What do you think is the greatest issue the country faces right now?

Housing, closely followed by climate change. My constituency is young and growing fast. Affordable Housing & public infrastructure are not where they should be, but I am working hard to deliver on housing, healthcare, transport, childcare, retrofitting and enhancing public amenity.

What would you like your first speaking time in the Dáil to be about if you get elected?

If re-elected, I will likely address the need to hasten the delivery of affordable housing with the necessary public infrastructure, followed closely by the need to fast-track various school projects in my constituency.
