O'Rourke has been a councillor on Meath County Council since the 2014 local elections. He was re-elected to the council in the 2019 local elections. He previously unsuccessfully contested the 2016 general election. He is a PhD student researching major health service reform.
Because successive governments have left Meath as the lowest-funded county in Ireland. I\'m an experienced and hard-working public representative and am dedicated to delivering a fairer society, one with unity and community at its heart.
My number one priority is to address the chronic under-funding of transport infrastructure/services and public green spaces in Co Meath. Rail, public transport services and playgrounds and parks are essential building blocks for any healthy, happy and sustainable community/county.
I would like to see the Sinn Féin policy that the Dunshaughlin/Navan rail project proceed without further delay adopted as government policy.
