Ross was first elected as a TD in 2011 and re-elected in 2016. He previously served as a Senator since 1981 on the University of Dublin panel. He has been the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport since 2016. He was formerly a columnist and business editor of the Sunday Independent. He won Journalist of the Year in 2009. He is a qualified stockbroker.
