Ryan was first elected to the Dáil in 2002. He lost his seat in 2011 and was re-elected in 2016. He was Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources from 2007 to 2011. He has been leader of the Green Party since 2011. He unsuccessfully contested the 2014 MEP elections.

I believe going green will be good for our constituency, providing high-quality walking, cycling, and public transport facilities, developing Dublin as an ethical centre for digital innovation, providing new cost rental housing solutions that provide high-quality rental choices that everyone can afford.

The development of living streets and strong communities through the above housing and transport strategies and proper planning of our public realm.

The implementation of the Waste Reduction, Just Transition Bills which we introduced and the Climate Emergency Measures Bill that we supported, but were needlessly blocked by Fine Gael.
