McEntee was first elected to the Dáil in a 2013 by-election. She was re-elected in the 2016 general election. She was appointed Minister for European Affairs in 2017. She is a former Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People. She has a degree in economics, politics and law and a Masters in communications and journalism. She previously worked in the Department of Agriculture and a subsidiary of Citibank.
