Biography
Byrne was first elected as a TD in the 2007 general election. He lost his seat in 2011 and was appointed as Senator on the cultural and educational panel in the Seanad. He was re-elected in the 2016 general election. He is the Fianna Fáil spokesperson on education and skills. Byrne is a qualified solicitor.
