Flanagan was co-opted as a Fianna Fáil councillor onto Laois County Council in 2018. This is her first general election. She is a former Students' Union President in NUI Maynooth. She works as a lecturer in IT Carlow and is active in a number of local sporting and community organisations in Laois, including rugby and the GAA.
I am a new, hungry, capable voice. I am approachable, warm and have a good sense of humour but I am resilient and have a very strong work ethic. I will fight for maintaining and improving public services, listen to people’s concerns and act accordingly for the better of people in Laois and Offaly.

Raise three PQs. First, argue for a simple information campaign showing simple steps to do at home to reduce carbon emissions. Second, raise the issue of the lack of pension scheme for community employment supervisors. Third, continue to seek clarification in relation to Portlaoise Hospital. I will also organise a free bus inviting my constituents on a tour of Leinster House with a stop off at the Dáil Bar for a cup of tea or to have whatever tipple people might like. And yes – I will pay for it.
