Curran was first elected as a TD in 2002. He held his seat until 2011 and was re-elected in the 2016 general election. He is the Fianna Fáil spokesperson on national drug policy and urban affairs. He chaired the Oireachtas Committee on Employment Affairs and Social Protection. He is a former Minister of State. He was first elected to South Dublin County Council in 1999.

I believe that I have a proven record of representing my community effectively and many years of experience. My priority is to improve the quality of life for people living in Dublin Mid-West.

Providing and securing family homes for young people has to be the number one priority for all candidates in this election. We are still in the middle of a housing crisis.

I would prioritise access to mental health services and speech and language therapy and oversee the delivery of local primary health care services.
