Biography
Buttimer was first elected to the Seanad in 2007. He was elected as a TD in 2011 and re-elected as a Senator in 2016 after ranking fifth in the four-seat Dáil constituency in the general election. He is the current leader of the Seanad. He was a member of Cork City Council from 2004 to 2007.
