Breen was first elected to the Dáil in 2002 and has been re-elected at every election since. He is Minister of State with special responsibility for Trade, Employment, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection. He was previously Minister of State for Employment and Small Business. Prior to his election as TD, Breen was a member of Clare County Council since 1999.
