Smyth was elected as Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan in the 2016 general election. She is the party’s spokesperson on arts, culture and heritage.

To seek the immediate reduction in waiting lists across all strands of society be it housing, health, child services, home support, carers and to tackle the crises in Insurance and farming.

I would demand funding for the vulnerable, the sick and the elderly to assist them live in the comfort of their own home with dignity and respect through improved home support packages. The repair of roads and additional bus and transport routes are other immediate concerns.
