O'Flaherty is a qualified engineer. He unsuccessfully ran in the 2019 local elections. He has had an interest in politics for all his adult life.

Why should someone vote for you?
I will be an effective voice for the opposition.
What is your number one priority for your constituency?
I believe that mental health, suicide, homelessness and drug addiction are all one issue.
What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?
I want to break down the stone wall between myself and members of the government.
