Biography

He was first elected to the Seanad in 1993 before being elected to the Dáil in 1997. He has been re-elected in every general election since then. The current Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Health, he was formerly Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, with special responsibility for trade and commerce.
