A former Leixlip town councillor, he has ran unsuccessfully in local and general elections on a number of occasions. A former member of the Green Party, he recently left that party and is now running for Renua Ireland. He is the owner of Carraig Flowers and is a prominent green campaigner as well as a member of a number of local organisations.
