Biography

Elected first as a Cork county councillor in 1999, he was elected to the Seanad in 2002 and to the Dáil on his third attempt in 2011. He is the chairman of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Environment, Local Government and Culture and participated in the Constitutional Convention.

Why should someone vote for you (in 140 characters or fewer)?

I want to continue working to secure the recovery, spread the benefits and make up for the lost years during the economic crisis.

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

To create jobs, provide stability and improve living conditions. I want to continue the work of economic recovery and deliver vital local services.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

I want to support local job creation and copper-fasten the recovery to ensure that it spreads to the heart of the rural Ireland.
