Biography
A long-standing politician, he was elected first as a Tipperary county councillor in 1991. He was elected to the Dáil in a 2000 by-election and was re-elected in 2011 after losing his seat in 2007. His party is Tipperary based and he has campaigned nationally against the household tax and other austerity measures.

Why should someone vote for you (in 140 characters or fewer)?
For 30 years, I’ve helped people mobilise against injustice; hospital closures, unemployment, home & water tax. I want to continue this work.
What is your number one priority for your constituency?
Jobs are my top priority. Disposable income in Tipp is 5% lower than the national average because we’re not getting a fair share of new jobs.
What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?
Abolish water charges –a people’s victory on this issue would lead the way to a reversal of other cutbacks in health, education and welfare.
