Biography

He was first elected to the Dáil in 1992 and has been a serving TD since. He has held a number of ministerial positions throughout the years, including Minister for Social Protection and Minister for the Environment. He is the current Fianna Fáil spokesperson on agriculture, food and the community.

Why should someone vote for you (in 140 characters or fewer)?

I would hope that people will vote for me based on my record locally and nationally as a hard working TD committed to improving people’s lives.

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

Housing, transport, resolution of mortgage difficulties, rural development & Irish language, Gaeltacht and Island affairs.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

I will set in train a whole stream of issues to be followed through on in the next five years, including the above outlined.
