Biography
The current Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, he first entered politics as a south Dublin county councillor in 2004. He ran unsuccessfully in the 2007 general election but entered the Seanad. He was elected to the Dáil in 2011. He has formerly held a number of key positions in the Labour Party and is a Senior Counsel.

To maintain a progressive voice for equity and fairness in a stable and balanced government that’s delivering a sustainable recovery.
What is your number one priority for your constituency?
To sustain and increase the 1,500 new jobs we’ve created in the constituency, and to ensure diversity of patronage and continued investment in our schools.
What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?
Negotiate a pragmatic, stable and balanced Government programme that can deliver full employment by 2018, while advancing social reform and progressive politics.
