Questions have been raised about the government’s decision to sanction a pay rise of €81,000 for the post.
The pay boost comes under the Public Service Stability Agreement which aims to restore public servant wages.
In introducing the €2,500 pay rise the party appears to be finally abandoning its ‘working wage’ pay strategy.
A party review has recommended ending the policy of paying all staff and representatives the average wage.
Union Siptu now says that it will put the recommended increase to its members.
The survey also found that more than 17 per cent will reduce allowances such as bonuses and overtime rates in 2013.
