Why your investment in investigative journalism matters

You are here because you have noticed some of our most valuable work. The Journal Investigates team goes beyond breaking news to explore, expose and explain the inner workings of modern Ireland.

We are interested in what is happening behind the scenes of the latest political speech. We want to expose illegal activity that harms our environment, our health, our safety and our potential to thrive as a society and as individuals.

To do this, our reporters and editors spend hours sifting through thousands of documents to spot contradictions and mistakes. We knock on doors and send repeated requests for interviews to expose a falsehood. We listen at kitchen tables, in fields, on the phone. We hear the stories of people who are normally unheard and silenced.

This kind of work takes time and it takes resources.

We want to continue this work so you can benefit from the results. We want to tell the story of corruption and injustice, but also discover the successes and innovations that can drive change in this State. We want to tell these stories in ever more inventive ways so they can reach as many people as possible.

To do this, it is vital that you support wherever you can.

Over 10,000 readers like you support The Journal and its investigations, explainers and independent news-gathering. If you can, please consider setting up a monthly payment or making a once-off donation to join the team.

For the price of a sandwich each week you help us keep questioning, investigating, informing and innovating.
