Quirke was given a mandatory life sentence by Justice Eileen Creedon.
Patrick Quirke was convicted in May of the murder of Bobby Ryan.
Quirke was found guilty by a ten to two majority jury verdict at the Central Criminal Court today.
The six men and six women will continue considering their verdict tomorrow.
After almost two months of evidence, the jury is expected to begin deliberations this afternoon.

Dr Michael Curtis told the court that pieces of concrete fell on Bobby Ryan’s body as Gardaí tried to recover it from the slurry tank.
Flor Cantillon and Mary Lowry were in a relationship for around two years, after the disappearance of Bobby Ryan in 2011.
The court also heard that it is possible that Ryan’s body was placed rather than thrown into the tank where it was found.
Quirke said Lowry did give him a €20,000 loan, but denied receiving a cheque for €50,000, a trial heard today.
A GP said Quirke was “upset” at Mary Lowry’s relationship with Bobby Ryan.
Ryan’s body was found in an underground run-off tank on the farm leased by Pat Quirke in April 2013.
Quirke has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Bobby Ryan.
Ryan was found almost two years after going missing.
Lowry’s home was the last place Bobby Ryan was seen alive.
