The European Space Agency says it needs political backing.
Last week SpaceX announced it would launch two tourists to skirt Earth’s satellite next year.
In a statement this evening, the company said that the two people had paid a “significant deposit” to travel beyond the moon.
The numbers employed in the space industry here are set to double to over 1,000 according to the agency.
In 1972 Charles Duke was the youngest man in history to set foot on the moon.
They docked six hours after launching from Russia.
More than 30 aircraft will be flying low over Dublin today.
