The recent late-night sitting of the Dáil to discuss the abortion bill and the infamous lapgate incident has reignited debate about the appropriateness of bar opening hours in Leinster House.
Meanwhile, the Dáil Ceann Comhairle has told a Sunday newspaper that the bar should remain open all night, comparing TDs presence there to being like sitting in their front rooms.

The Sinn Féin president has said his party intends to ensure the bar closes at the same time as every other establishment amid continuing controversy over TDs drinking during Dáil business.
